Description of the screening
ăn com interweaves visual and textual narratives centred on the artist’s father working in the kitchen of his Vietnamese restaurant. The kitchen becomes a space of creation and memory, where every gesture and ingredient carries multiple meanings. It forms a connection between two generations while also revealing a site of tension.
The second film is a work in progress structured as a filmed correspondence: the voice of an artist addressing a friend through a letter. The editing conveys the perspective of the friend to whom the images have been entrusted. His return to Vietnam for his grandfather’s funeral becomes the starting point for a sensitive investigation, combining speculation and research into what his father’s final days might have been like before leaving the country.
