Among the 17 Special Projects in the inaugural edition of Conductor (New York), artist Trong Gia Nguyen presents Car Trunk Karaoke (Winter Playlist), 2026.

These karaoke tracks are a parody of James Corden’s Late Late Show “Carpool Karaoke” segments, except these appropriate bizarre, disgraceful, and mostly banal footage from news and current events. The karaoke machine beckons the viewer to perform their cruelty, absurdity and inhumanity, daring them to recite the words and mimic the gestures of the monstrosities we prop up.

Conductor is a new international art fair taking place at Powerhouse Arts. This first official edition features individual artists and galleries from Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, South Asia, South-East Asia, the Middle East, Oceania and Indigenous Nations worldwide, highlighting the critical perspectives of the "Global Majority".

The fair is curated by Adriana Farietta.
