Phan Quang
Phan Quang (b. 1976, in Binh Dinh, Viet Nam) is a visual artist / photographer based in Ho Chi Minh city. Intrigued by the compelling nature of photography as a medium capable of both unsettling and reflecting notions of truth, Phan Quang stages nuanced compositions that illustrate the relationship between global historical events and the personal histories of families and communities in Vietnam. Working across sculpture, painting, video, and photography, the artist’s style is marked by a quiet elegance, with great attention paid to material and texture. Before transitioning to a professional art career, Phan Quang spent over a decade as a photojournalist, contributing to prominent Asian media outlets such as Forbes and Vietnam Economic Times.
